Using and storing a power bank safely
Power banks are useful and normally safe when used correctly. Because they contain lithium batteries, sensible charging and storage still matter.

Do not leave a power bank in direct sun, on a heater or in a hot car. Heat speeds up wear and can increase risk.
Use good cables
Poor cables can charge slowly, heat up or lose connection. Use cables that match USB-C fast charging.
Check for damage
Do not use a power bank with a swollen case, cracks, unusual smell or extreme heat build-up.
Safe charging
Charge on a stable surface and do not cover the power bank with clothing, cushions or blankets. Disconnect it when full or if it becomes unusually warm. Use a suitable USB-C charger where possible.
Long-term storage
Store a power bank somewhere cool and dry. For long-term storage, keeping it completely empty is not ideal. Recharge it occasionally, especially if it is part of an emergency kit.
