The dog wants out. Whatever the weather.
Warm dog walking clothes for winter
The dog needs to go out at seven in the morning and again at ten at night, frost or drizzle. Warm dog walking clothes should be easy: one layer you zip up, switch on and forget. A heated vest, a heated fleece and heated gloves do just that.
Four walks, four kinds of cold
Early mornings
Out of a warm bed and into the dark. There is no time to warm up, so quick heat is welcome. The Høgge² warms up within seconds.
The evening round
Short, slow and the coldest walk of the day. A heated fleece under your coat is on before you have found the lead.
Standing while the dog plays
Twenty minutes in a field while the ball goes back and forth. The dog is moving. You are not.
Rain
Dogs do not check the forecast. The Høgge² is water-repellent. In steady rain, wear your waterproof coat on top.
What to wear
- Core first. A warm chest, belly and back make the whole walk feel milder. Wear the vest under the coat you already own.
- Gloves that stay with you. Øven gloves keep your fingertips warm. Slip one off for the treats or the bags and the wrist strap holds on to it.
- A fleece for most days. The Wøley is a heated fleece, soft inside, with a chest pocket. Wear it on its own on a dry autumn day and under a coat in winter.
- A small power bank is enough. The 10,000 mAh power bank weighs 150 g and gives a vest about 3–6 hours of warmth. It can charge your phone too.
- Easy to wash. Muddy paws happen. Remove the power bank, wash at max 30 °C on a gentle cycle in a wash bag and air-dry. Follow the care label.
- Thick lining. Øven gloves are warm even when switched off. On milder walks you may not need the heat at all.
And the dog?
Heated beds and coats for dogs are a different kind of product, and Gløde does not sell them. We did compare the types: best heated dog bed. More on gloves for yourself: best heated gloves. Cold at home as well as on the walk? See always cold.

Frequently asked questions
What should I wear for dog walking in winter?
Layers: a base layer, a warm mid-layer and a wind- and rainproof coat, plus gloves and a hat. If you still get cold, make the mid-layer a heated one. A heated vest or fleece warms your core, which is what you miss most when you stand still.
Is a heated vest worth it for short walks?
Short walks are where it works well, because you never get the chance to warm up from moving. You switch it on at the door and feel warmth on your belly, back and neck. Morning and evening rounds add up to many hours outside every week.
Can I walk the dog in the rain in heated clothing?
The Høgge and Høgge² vests are water-repellent, so drizzle and a shower are no problem. In steady rain, wear a waterproof coat over the vest or fleece. Øven gloves are water- and windproof.
How long does the power bank last on dog walks?
On a Gløde vest the small 10,000 mAh power bank gives about 3–6 hours of warmth and the large 20,000 mAh power bank about 6–12 hours, depending on the heat level. For short daily walks that means several days on one charge.
